As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Your speaker misspoke as the Ohio River is under joint jurisdiction of the Ohio river with Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois. Originally, it was "owned" by Kentucky, but several states including Kentucky made appeals to the Supreme Court over the years as the river's course had changed to gain jurisdiction. Ohio has never "owned" the Ohio River. Sorry for the mini-history lesson, but I used to teach Kentucky history.
It's over already? Wow, that is shorter than last year. Again, even on this shorter trip, you covered a LOT of miles. I love the final shot of the video, arriving at home with things spilling out of the back of the van! It was a really great trip. Looking forward to your final thoughts.
Thanks! The trip really did just fly by.... We were gone for 18 nights, so it certainly wasn't a short trip- but compared to last years 44 nights- it really seemed like we were gone no time at all....

Thanks!!
This trip seemed to be over in a blink, that's for sure...

Thanks for the info Cam! In fairness, it is very well possible that I heard him wrong or even that I'm just not remembering what he said very well... But I really could've sworn that is what he said, because he even made some sort of joke saying something along the lines of naming it the Ohio river after it's owner or something like that.... but again, I could definately feature myself getting the information jumbled.... And no apologies needed for the mini-history lesson; I love history and that is actually why I enjoyed the tour because of the history information provided...
(1)- The trip seemed sooo short! I’ve now been home for a few days and I’m still baffled as to how quick the trip went by… The good part of that, is there is still a fair amount of summer left; whereas last year’s trip truly sucked away most of the summer…
(2)- So many places I want to return too! Last year, we seen a lot of beautiful places, but for the most part I left feeling like we had explored the parks adequately and while I’d love to return to many of those places- it’s simply because they were beautiful and I’d love to see them again, whereas this year- I left several places feeling like I didn’t see enough of it… I attribute that to several different factors; but the main one I do believe is that fact that we didn’t camp! I really believe last year- camping was what allowed us to explore the parks to the greatest extent because (1) we were immersed inside of the park the entire time we were there; 48 hours in most cases and (2) because we were camping the only thing *to* do was explore the park; there was no sitting around the hotel room and watching cable or using the internet.
Now, by no means am I a camper; I actually prefer hotels strongly to camping. But with that said, I really think camping in the park is essential for us to get the full park experience.
(3)- It was a great trip and I’m already counting down and preparing next year’s itinerary where we will go up the East Coast… Unfortunately, I’m not sure that it will be realistic for us to camp next year either due to visiting a lot of major cities in addition to several more national parks. However, the following year we will be visiting the North West where we should definitely be able to go back to camping for our main means of lodging…
(4)- I think overall, the “family favorite” destination for this particular trip was Mackinac Island. It wasn’t (currently) a National Park; but we just loved it all the same! There were a lot of runner ups as well… I’m left wanting to return to these places, but in the name of time and money- we will continue to visit new places most likely before we return to any old favorites… If only I could travel/vacation for a living….
Thanks for following along everyone! I did put together a final video that encompasses the entire trip….
Great report! I can see how camping would really immerse you in the park experience and make it feel like a more complete visit. Kind of like staying on-site at WDW! Looking forward to next summer, when you'll be in my neck of the woods!

Just getting caught up again Brandy! Sorry about the soggy room, but glad you guys had a great time at Six Flags and made it home safely! You accomplished so much on your trip! Thanks so much for taking us along for the ride!
Thanks for sharing! Yes, the trip did seem to go by quickly. Well, compared to last year, it did seem like a quick trip! I can't believe how much you accomplished! I need to go back and look at some of the videos!

I just had a chance to read through your whole TR. Nine months later is better than never! I really enjoyed this road trip TR, just like the previous year's. You visited so many places that I would love to visit someday. Mackinac Island in particular looked great! I loved all of your videos. I was particularly impressed that on a few of them, you timed Madilyn singing in the video with the song that you used for the soundtrack.. I really noticed in on Moves Like Jagger. Cool! I'm looking forward to this year's road trip, especially since you'll be in my neck of the woods! Thanks so much for sharing!
